Creating an illustrated story can be an efficient way of practicing written language. It gives you plenty of time to think through more complex sentences, look up new vocabulary and express yourself creatively. You can make up a story or simply describe something that happened to you yesterday.
Another option is a comics where you can fully develop dialogues and bring everyday conversations to life.
Check below an amazing children's story written by one of my students, which he created at a very early stage of his learning.
